Queen Victoria Building
The Queen Victoria Building (QVB), rich in history and aesthetically magnificent, covers a full block on Sydney’s George Street and houses over 180 of Sydney’s best fashion stores, jewellery shops, and homewares, as well as exquisite cafés and restaurants.
The magnificent structure was constructed in the 1890s as a Municipal Market on the size of a Cathedral. In 1986, the QVB was magnificently renovated and reopened, rapidly becoming Sydney’s most popular and renowned retail destination.
The enormous central dome, which is filled by a gigantic Christmas tree during the Christmas season, is a must-see for any tourist. Beautiful stained glass windows and magnificent architecture can be seen throughout the structure, and a 19th century stairway rests alongside the dome.
